meganano 02
textile-design / rethinking the image of the cubicle
employer: bruce mau design, toronto (canada)
design: sarah dorkenwald and team, toronto (canada)
client: maharam, nyc (usa)
sarah dorkenwald worked on a team at bruce mau design to design a suite of textiles for the new york-based textile company maharam as a dynamic range of options for a textile program for work environments. the solution was to ‘design the work place back to nature,’ by rethinking the image of the cubicle. the idea of scale became the theme of the project–from the cosmic (mega) to the microscopic (nano)–introduced by playing with foreground, middle ground, and background.
the ‘meganano’ panel fabrics for maraham were launched at neocon 2003 in chicago.
