experimental design / ready made / the book as object
this book is another significant early work of sarah dorkenwald in that it is an example of one approach she likes to take: to turn graphic design into a three-dimensional object. she collected numerous direct-mail ads that were thrown in her mailbox with the intention to create something better from them. the object pretends to be a book with pages that can be turned, but no coherent content appears. the imperfect design and the hand made bookbinding contrasts the characteristics of mass production.
